David Edgar Iles, Jr.
David Edgar Iles, Jr., age 74, of Littleton, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was the son of David Edgar Iles, Sr. and Helen Copeland Iles.
David was born and raised on the farm. He was a 1959 graduate of Littleton High School and a 1965 graduate from NC State University. A lover of land and nature, he was a dairy farmer his entire life. David was an avid reader, enjoyed camping and loved his grandchildren. He was the speaker for grazing and no-till farming, speaking as far away as Georgia. David was a member of Littleton Baptist Church where he was a deacon, and a charter member as well as a board member of Davie Fire Department. He most recently found his love for playing the guitar and banjo.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sarah Moore Iles; his sons, David Iles, III and his wife, Lindy of Disputanta, VA, and Dan and his wife, Stephanie of Littleton; 4 grandchildren, Ella Grace Iles, Maggie Helen Iles, Bentley Iles, and Wyatt Iles; 4 sisters, Dorothy Green of Roanoke Rapids, Elizabeth Hockaday of Roanoke Rapids, Mary Ann Hodges of New Bern, and Carrie Emma Bowers and her husband, Fred of Fort Mill, SC; and also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Littleton Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Currin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
